Multi-purpose area

Metelkova mesto is a place full of changes. This continual process I wanted to express by designing an object that could also change in time. The “Hall of fame” where the object is situated is itself a very special place as it is a graffiti gallery. I thought that the object should not intrude. That’s why the proposed object is levitating in the air (hanging on steel ropes), leaving the full view on the whole “Hall of fame”. It makes a little roof and connects the place, so that the whole place is more compact and sheltered.

The object can be transformed for the many actions happening in Metelkova mesto. The artists can open the object and create a space for different performances, artistic actions, concerts, theater etc. Or they can open it some other way, however they want, to provide space for exhibitions. They can then use the panels and the steel ropes to expose their artworks. The Trimo panels are in neutral color so that the artists are motivated to paint them themselves. The object is designed to be multifunctional, it should especially work as a meeting point and as a site for cultural events. But space is also left for the artists to find themselves even more different uses.
