I started to develop my idea by trying to answer a couple of questions: What kind of programme is needed for Metelkova to be a place of alternative culture? What are the requirements for the structure to be suitably integrated in Metelkova? I believe that Metelkova inevitaby needs bigger showrooms where various artists from Metelkova could hold their exhibitions at the same time. Thus the true essence of Metelkova could be expressed, which certainly doesn't lie merely in parties. The structure has to be rather flexible, possibly even transformable so that it could react to the happenings around it; this way it would follow the need for constant change. The location itself makes it possible that the structure in a way represents the entire Metelkova City.
By combining these answers and limiting myself to the use of Trimo products, I have established the appropriate form and function of the structure. The programme of the structure is to be a scene for cultural events (a gallery), having enough room for larger exhibitions.
It is composed of Trimoterm panels. Each panel can be used as a wall, where works of art (paintings) can be displayed. The majority of panels can be moved – when the walls are pulled out, the structure becomes open and dynamic. I believe this structure could easily become a central place for exhibitions in Metelkova, thus contributing to better presentation of its true essence.
